Despite the fact that Call of Duty 1, 2 and 4 developers Infinity Ward were not at the helm of this fifth installment, this is an outstanding game. I'm actually glad they went back to WWII, because the two fronts featured here (the Pacific and Russia/Germany) are some of the best the series has seen. The game is gorgeous to look at, so much so in fact that this is now one of my favorite games visually.
Where this game loses some points is in the originality department. While the experience manages to feel fresh and epic, it still takes most of its elements from previous Call of Duty games. This is especially apparent in multiplayer, which is essentially CoD4 with different guns and locales. However, this is fine considering that CoD4's multiplayer was amazing, and that there are a few twists in the mechanics that keep it feeling like a new game.
This is a must-play, and worth buying for the multiplayer if you don't already own Call of Duty 4.
